Headhunting executives and managers

Is it easy to find work in a country other than your own?
The answer is no.

Not so much from an administrative angle, with the constraints specific to each country, as from a business aspect. In actual fact, executives move from one country to another without any difficulty provided that they are sent abroad by their company. But, if, under their own initiative, they want to find work in a country other than their home country, things are much more difficult. Different diplomas, culture, a certain distrust, in short, it is easy for a young French man to run a bar in London, or for a young British woman to work as a babysitter on the French Riviera, but applying for a position as a Marketing or Finance Director continues to be a random challenge if the person is not a native of the country.

This does not mean that Europe is closed in on itself – there are many international exchanges – but large companies recruit staff on site where the position is available. Thus, it is best to be sent to another country by an employer rather than to try and find work oneself in the country of one’s choice.
